Getting the path to the directory where Windows was installed from

Question:

I need to install some files from the Windows Setup disk in code. On many computers, the Windows setup files reside in CAB files that are installed on the user's hard drive and in other cases, the system is installed from a CD. Where can I find where Windows was originally installed from?

Answer:

The following example demonstrates retrieving the source of the
Windows setup files.
